SUPPORTING VETERAN'S HEALTH & WELLBEING.

At Pioda Health & Performance, we proudly support the veteran community through specialised health and wellbeing services. As an approved provider with the Australian Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), we work closely with eligible veterans to improve physical function, manage chronic conditions, and enhance quality of life using evidence-based exercise physiology care.

WHAT IS DVA EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY?

Exercise physiology is a clinical, allied-health discipline focused on using tailored movement-based interventions to improve health outcomes. For DVA-eligible veterans, this means we assess your current physical challenges and develop individualised exercise programs that suit your medical history, goals, and lifestyle.

Our DVA Exercise Physiology services:

  • Are designed specifically for veterans experiencing ongoing health conditions or impairments related to service.

  • Focus on improving body systems affected by chronic disease, injury, or surgery.

  • Support functional movement, strength, endurance, and day-to-day physical independence.

  • Complement other DVA-funded health services, such as physiotherapy, psychology or allied health.

Our Exercise Physiologists develop individualised programs that align with each veteran's specific health goals and clinical needs.

HOW OUR PROGRAMS WORK

  1. Initial Assessment:
Your Exercise Physiologist completes a comprehensive evaluation — considering your medical history, current movement patterns, and health goals. This helps identify barriers to physical function and areas to target.

  2. Personalised Program Design:
Based on your assessment, we create a tailored plan that may include strength, mobility, balance and cardiovascular components — all supervised and adjusted as you progress.

  3. Ongoing Support & Monitoring:
Regular sessions with your clinician help track progress, adapt exercises safely, and improve functional outcomes. Goals might include better mobility, reduced pain, improved stamina or greater independence in daily tasks.

  4. Collaboration with Your Health Team:
We communicate with your treating doctors or other allied health professionals (with your consent) to ensure your DVA care plan aligns with your broader health management.

BENEFITS OF OUR DVA EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY SERVICES

Improved Physical Function

Regular, tailored exercise interventions can lead to measurable improvements in strength, balance, flexibility and endurance, helping you be more confident in everyday activities.

Chronic Disease Management

Our programs support the management of conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and musculoskeletal pain. Exercise is a recognised therapeutic tool in controlling symptoms and reducing flare-ups.

Mental Health Support

Physical activity has strong evidence supporting improved mood, reduced anxiety, and positive impacts on conditions like PTSD and depression — all common in veteran populations.

Injury Prevention and Recovery

Whether it’s recovering strength after surgery or preventing future injuries, an appropriately designed exercise program helps your body adapt safely and reduces the risk of reinjury.

Enhanced Quality of Life

Through improved physical fitness and confidence in movement, many veterans experience better participation in family, social or work activities — contributing to overall wellbeing.

WHO CAN ACCESS THESE SERVICES?

DVA exercise physiology services are available to veterans who hold an eligible DVA health card (such as a Gold Card or White Card) and have a clinical need for allied health care. Access is determined through DVA eligibility and referral pathways.
